History

The goal for the Maine Attraction Colorguard is to provide an enriching performance experience for students in the state of Maine. The traditions that were established in the early 80's will be carried through in the modern version of this great colorguard.

In 2011, Maine Attraction performed their show "At the Dance" with music by Rhianna and competed in the MBDA and NESBA circuits.  Another great season for the group brought them the Independent Regional A championship in the NESBA circuit.

In 2010, Maine Attraction performed their show "Big Love" and competed in the

MBDA and NESBA circuits and performed at the W.G.I. Salem Regional.  It was an excellent season for the group where they pleased crowds at every performance!

In 2009, the guard participated once again in Eastern Mass and select W.G.I Regionals performing their 2009 show "Glassworks". This was the guard's second year in the Independent A class.

In 2008, Maine Attraction (pictured below) returned to the Independent A class and performed in the Eastern Mass circuit. They also participated in the W.G.I. New England Regional where they were Independent A Class Finalists, the W.G.I. Trumbull Regional, and the W.G.I. World Championships in Dayton, OH! It was an exciting year and the guard made excellent progress!

In 2006, original management and members of the guard decided to revive the colorguard for the 2007 season. The guard consisted of 25 members (pictured below) from the southern Maine area. In 2007, the guard competed in the Maine, Eastern Mass and NESBA circuits. They were crowned the Class "B" champions in Eastern Mass and were awarded the best section awards for Flag, Rifle and Sabre.

The Maine Attraction Colorguard began its history when they first hit the floor in 1980. The colorguard competed in the C.Y.O. circuit, Eastern Mass circuit and Winter Guard International. 1981 was the first year in W.G.I. competition and the guard placed 5th at the W.G.I. World Championships in the "Class A" category of competition. In 1982, the guard placed 2nd at the W.G.I. World Championships in the "Independent A" category of competition. The guard went inactive after the 1982 season.
